We are partnering with a leading global engineering and project management consultancy to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of major UK nuclear programmes.

This role offers a rare opportunity to work client-side on complex, safety-critical nuclear infrastructure projects, with long-term career progression across wider regulated sectors including energy, defence, rail, and major infrastructure.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the UK Nuclear Project Delivery Lead, the Senior Project Manager will play a critical role in delivering high-value consultancy services across the full project lifecycle pre-contract through to final account on large-scale nuclear capital programmes.

This role suits a Project Manager with strong NEC contract expertise, a deep understanding of regulated environments, and experience operating in highly governed, assurance-led programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Contract & Commercial Management

  • Client-side management and administration of NEC3 & NEC4 ECC contracts
  • Budget ownership, cost control, and commercial reporting
  • Collaboration with Quantity Surveyors on:
    • Monthly valuations and payment certification
    • Defined Cost determination and cost forecasting
  • Preparation and issue of all contractual notifications, including:
    • Early Warning Notices
    • Compensation Events
    • General contractual communications
  • Ensuring robust project controls, audit-ready records, and compliance with contractual requirements

Project & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams in a complex nuclear environment
  • Build strong client, contractor, and regulatory stakeholder relationships
  • Drive efficiency, assurance, and governance across the supply chain
  • Line management, mentoring, and development of Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers
Pre-Contract Activities
  • Scope definition, optioneering, and feasibility studies
  • Cost estimating, risk identification, and mitigation planning
  • Preparation and management of complex tender documentation
  • Tender evaluation and recommendation
  • Early Contractor and Subcontractor Involvement (ECI / ESI) during design development
Post-Contract Activities
  • Administration of construction and professional services contracts
  • Monitoring of expenditure and management of project cashflow
  • Leading change control, variations, and compensation event negotiations
  • Support with claims management and dispute resolution
  • Final accounts, close-out, and post-project evaluation
About You

Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager with:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a numerate discipline
  • Full membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. MAPM, or equivalent)
  • Extensive post-graduate experience within the Nuclear sector (new build, decommissioning, waste, or supporting infrastructure)
  • Demonstrable client-side experience working for a main contractor, JV, or consultancy
  • Expert working knowledge of the NEC3/NEC4 suite of contracts
  • Experience working in highly regulated, safety-critical environments
  • Strong understanding of nuclear governance, assurance, and risk management
  • Line management and recruitment experience
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations
  • Right to work in the UK
