What You'll Do As a Project Engineer, you'll play a critical role in supporting heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. Working alongside experienced Project Managers and field teams, you'll help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on budget, and on schedule. Your responsibilities will include: Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and preconstruction activities. Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to fully understand project scope and design intent. Maintain project documentation including submittals, RFIs, change orders, quantity tracking, shop drawings, as-built drawings, and project logs. Coordinate material procurement, vendor quotes, and delivery schedules to keep projects moving. Prepare monthly cost reports, labor forecasts, and project financial updates. Assist with processing invoices, extra work orders (EWOs), and change orders. Monitor construction progress and perform site inspections to verify work meets contract specifications and quality standards. Partner with field leadership to promote a strong safety culture by participating in safety meetings, pre-task planning, site walks, and documentation audits. Identify project issues, changed site conditions, and potential scope changes while working collaboratively to develop solutions. Support project closeout activities including final documentation and reporting. Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and internal project teams. Experience supporting heavy civil construction projects is strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build positive working relationships. High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work. The Musts Experience supporting construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. Knowledge of project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and cost tracking. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Proficient with PROCORE Ability to work both in the office and on active construction sites. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement. Preferred Qualifications Heavy civil construction experience. Experience with HeavyJob, HeavyBid, or similar construction management software. Familiarity with MS Project or Primavera scheduling software. Knowledge of project cost controls and forecasting. Experience working on DOT, municipal, or public infrastructure projects.
