Position
MSD Animal Health is looking for a (Senior) Specialist Process Engineering to join Project BOND within the Beta Lactam Formulation Area. In this role, you will be part of an international engineering organization and will be technically responsible for the engineering, installation, commissioning, and qualification of complex manufacturing equipment.
Reporting to the Engineering Director of the Technology Center, you will contribute to a strategic investment project with a significant impact on the global manufacturing organization. The equipment includes Beta Lactam formulation vessels, advanced API powder handling isolators, downflow booths, and supporting process equipment.
You will work in a multidisciplinary project team alongside specialists in process engineering, mechanical engineering, automation, HVAC, civil engineering, and commissioning & qualification. In addition, you will collaborate closely with end users, project management, suppliers, and international engineering partners to ensure the successful implementation of safe, efficient, and GMP-compliant manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
As a (Senior) Specialist Process Engineering, you will be the technical owner of the Beta Lactam Formulation Area. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading engineering activities for complex pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment
- Acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Beta Lactam Formulation Area
- Coordinating technical challenges during the final engineering phase of the project
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, engineering teams, and end users
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with European engineering and construction partners
- Supporting and participating in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) at supplier locations
- Providing technical leadership during the installation, commissioning, and qualification phases
- Ensuring all designs comply with GMP, quality, and safety standards
- Supporting the handover to operations and providing post-start-up technical support
Throughout the project, you will serve as the technical lead for the production area, ensuring that the installation is delivered safely, compliantly, and according to schedule.
Profile
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, (Bio)Pharmaceutical Engineering, Food Technology, or a related discipline
- At least 5 years of experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, or high-tech industry
- Experience as a Process Engineer or Design Engineer in complex CAPEX projects
- Solid knowledge of GMP guidelines (EudraLex Volume 4), Annex 1, EHEDG, and ISPE standards
- Experience with the commissioning and qualification of manufacturing equipment
- Experience with hygienic design and powder handling is a strong advantage
- Experience with Beta Lactam manufacturing processes is considered a plus
- Strong communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary project teams
- Willingness to travel internationally on an occasional basis
- Excellent command of the English language; Dutch is considered an advantage
Employment Conditions
- Salary indication: €4,500 - €7,000 gross per month, depending on knowledge and experience
- Full-time position (40 hours per week)
- Temporary assignment until 2 August 2027
