About the Role

<p><b>Residential Childcare Worker for Children with Disabilities</b></p> <p><b>Location: Winnersh, Reading</b></p> <p><b>Contract: Permanent; Full-Time</b></p> <p><b>Salary: &pound;26,000 &#8211; &pound;28,200 per annum</b></p> <p>We&rsquo;re looking for committed and compassionate Residential Childcare Workers to join our team and new home in Winnersh. You&rsquo;ll support children living in our homes, helping them build confidence, feel safe, and develop key life skills.</p> <p>As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will be supported to deliver high-quality, child-centred care to children with disabilities, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and development, in line with their Care Plans, regulatory standards and the home&#039;s Statement of Purpose.</p> <p>You will be part of a team that delivers high-quality care and support in line with Brighter Homes&rsquo; values, policies, and best practice guidance. You will comply with regulations, including The Children&rsquo;s Homes (England) Regulations and Guide to the Quality Standards.</p> <p><b>Key responsibilities of the Residential Childcare Worker include:</b></p> <ul> <li>Assisting in the overall daily running of the home and contributing to planning and coordinating activities during a shift as required.</li> <li>Contributing to and participating in providing quality care and life experiences.</li> <li>Safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children.</li> <li>Supporting children in developing life skills and work towards independence goals, as identified in their Care Plans.</li> <li>Responding to and managing behaviour responses, that may be challenging, using therapeutic approaches.</li> <li>Supporting children with washing, bathing, getting dressed, eating and drinking, and accessing activities.</li> <li>Ensuring quality and consistency of children&rsquo;s records.</li> <li>Participating in care, education and (where applicable) health reviews of children.</li> <li>Establishing a good standard of communication and relationship with external stakeholders (including professionals and children&rsquo;s families).</li> <li>Ensuring that medication is administered in line with the children&rsquo;s plans, company policy and in line with Ofsted regulations.</li> <li>Supporting children to attend activities outside of the home.</li> </ul> <p><b>The ideal candidate will:</b></p> <ul> <li>Be willing to work towards or already hold a Level 3 Children Residential Childcare qualification (or equivalent).</li> <li>Have a passion to work with young people who sometimes demonstrate behaviours that challenge.</li> <li>Have a genuine desire to improve lives and promote self-esteem.</li> <li>Demonstrate excellent communication skills and empathy.</li> <li>Have the ability to stay calm under pressure and work flexibly.</li> <li>Maintain confidentiality.</li> <li>Have an awareness of legislation within regulations for children and young people.</li> <li>Possess strong written and recording skills.</li> <li>Be flexible to work across all different shift patterns.</li> <li>Previous experience of working with children is desirable.</li> </ul>
