About the Role
Diesel Technician (Class A / Class B)Direct Hire | Suffolk, VAPay: $30-35/hr. with potential for more depending on experience. OverviewThe Diesel Technician repairs, maintains, and overhauls company fleet diesel equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with company and regulatory standards. ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, and converter dollies.Diagnose equipment issues and perform necessary repairs.Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical components to ensure proper operating condition.Ensure equipment has the required licensing and registration prior to being deemed roadworthy.Complete work orders and maintenance documentation through the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, battery inspections, and equipment lubrication.Operate hand and power tools, including welding equipment, jacks, and hoists.Train and provide guidance to other technicians and employees as assigned.Perform other related duties as assigned. QualificationsClass B TechnicianMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GED or equivalent.2+ years of medium- to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience, including preventive maintenance, tire and wheel service, air and air disc brakes, diagnostics, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and A/C refrigeration. Preferred QualificationsAssociate degree or vocational/trade school diploma.3+ years of medium- to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience. Class A TechnicianMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GED or equivalent.5+ years of medium- to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience, including preventive maintenance, tire and wheel service, air and air disc brakes, diagnostics, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and a minimum of 2 years of A/C refrigeration experience. Preferred QualificationsAssociate degree or 2-year technical degree.7–10 years of medium- to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience.
