About the Role
We are working with a fantastic SEMH secondary school in the WN2 area who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team from 20th April on a temp to permanent basis.
This is a small, supportive secondary setting catering to pupils with a range of SEMH and behavioural needs. With class sizes of around 4 students, pupils are supported through a Key Stage 2 and lower Key Stage 3 curriculum, allowing for a highly personalised approach to learning.
The school is looking for an enthusiastic and understanding individual who can build strong relationships and positively engage with students. The school caters for individuals with a range of SEMH needs. There are other needs within the school including autism, ADHD, ODD and global developmental delay. There is challenging behaviour within the school, though this is rare, as the school places a huge amount of focus on the behaviour policy.
What the school is looking for:
• Experience supporting children with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
• Previous experience in an SEMH school, PRU, or alternative provision (preferred)
• Full-time availability
• A positive, energetic, and engaging personality
To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience working with SEMH needs in some form. Ideally this would be in a specialist school setting, but we are willing to consider applicants from a range of backgrounds, including youth work, residential care, coaching, mentoring or even the armed forces. If you’re passionate about making a difference and supporting young people to reach their full potential, we’d love to hear from you.
