We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at a welcoming school in the Hastings area. This rewarding role involves providing consistent, tailored support to help one child access learning, build confidence, and thrive both academically and socially. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with the potential to become a permanent member of the school’s team. Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities As a 1:1 Individual Needs Assistant in the Hastings area, you will: Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND throughout the school day. Adapt learning activities to meet the child’s individual needs and learning style. Encourage independence while offering reassurance and guidance where needed. Support the child’s emotional wellbeing, confidence, and social development. Help implement strategies outlined in the child’s EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan), where applicable. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support. Monitor progress and record observations to help inform future learning plans. Assist with classroom activities, transitions, playtimes, and other daily routines. Promote positive behaviour and provide a calm, nurturing presence throughout the day. A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently. Flexible and committed to helping every child succeed. Transferable Experience We Welcome School experience is desirable but not essential. We would love to hear from applicants with backgrounds in: SEND Support Teaching Assistance Nursery or Early Years Residential Childcare Care and Support Work Youth Work Sports Coaching Mental Health Support Family Support Psychology or Criminology Graduates Social Work Occupational Therapy or Speech and Language Support Counselling Community or Outreach Support Essential Requirements A genuine passion for working with children with SEND. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. The ability to remain calm, patient, and positive. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
