About Our Client

A major energy and infrastructure organisation is seeking an experienced Interim Capex / Project Accountant to support a large, long‑term capital investment programme.
The role sits within a multi‑million‑pound project, alongside a finance systems migration, and will focus on establishing robust project accounting and reporting on capex spend

Job Description

• Ensure accurate tracking, reporting and governance of capex spend
• Develop asset and accounting structures to support future capitalisation
• Support a finance systems transition within a dual‑system environment
• Work closely with the project team, Finance Director, shareholders and other stakeholders
• Institute monthly processes to assess and record project accounting entries, including accruals and prepayments
• Develop and implement monthly forecasting processes
• Establish and manage controls around the drawdown of project contingency
• Assist the Finance Director in developing processes and reporting for capital projects and fixed assets

The Successful Applicant

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Strong background in capex and project accounting
• Proven track record working on large‑scale, complex capital projects
• Exposure to SUN or SAP advantageous
• Advanced analytical, modelling and problem‑solving skills
• Sound technical accounting knowledge under IFRS and UK GAAP
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities with strong organisational skills
• Background in energy, engineering or construction preferred

What's on Offer

• Outside or inside IR35
• £300-£400 per day, dependent on experience (negotiable)
• Flexible working pattern with some site attendance required depending on location (block site visits for those travelling from further afield)
• Initial 6‑month contract with possible extension
