About the Role

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.

The Role:

Oxfam GB is looking for a humanitarian influencing adviser who will provide advocacy and political influencing expertise and knowledge to shape the strategy and stakeholder engagement based on Oxfam’s Humanitarian Influencing priorities and to support the development of humanitarian country teams' advocacy strategies.

We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam's mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability and inclusion in all you do.

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

  • Considerable experience in developing and implementing humanitarian advocacy strategies, building and working with coalitions
  • Strong Knowledge of the humanitarian influencing ecosystem in the UK and globally
  • Robust understanding of the UK Government’s role in upholding international law and responding to humanitarian crisis and how to engage strategically with decision makers and parliamentarians.
  • Strong influencing and diplomatic skills, along with awareness of political sensitivities and experience of working with diverse partners who often will work in dispersed locations across the world.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills combining an accessible style with rigorous analytical skills.
  • Ability to think strategically, to take initiative and to balance competing priorities and work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of humanitarian advocacy
  • Experience in using research data and learnings for the development of programmes and/or policy.
  • Able to coordinate with various actors and work on diverse activities, sometimes towards tight deadlines.
  • Proven sound judgement in complex situations.
