As Chief of the Division of Geriatrics and Co-Director of the Center for Memory Loss and Brain Health at Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center, Dr. Parulekar provides patient-centered, holistic, and evidence-based care for older adults with acute and chronic conditions, as well as routine care with an emphasis on screening, prevention and lifestyle changes. She is also an Associate Professor of Geriatrics at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. Dr. Parulekar earned her medical degree from Bombay University's Topiwala National Medical College in Mumbai, India, where she also completed her OB/GYN residency. She then completed an Internal Medicine residency at New York Methodist Hospital/New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn before completing her Geriatrics Fellowship at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. As an educator, clinician and researcher, Dr. Parulekar has participated in clinical trials and contributed numerous peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, abstracts and poster presentations to medical literature. She has delivered invited lectures for a range of audiences, including the media and the medical and scientific community. Dr. Parulekar was recently selected as one of Bergen Magazine's from 2014-2023 Top Doctors. She is a fellow of the American Geriatrics Society and the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Medical Directors Association/The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine. She is an editorial reviewer for the medical journal Health Science Reports and an abstract reviewer for the American Geriatrics Society.
