About the Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and technically-minded Estates & Facilities professional to step into a senior management role overseeing a diverse national property portfolio within the purpose-built student accommodation sector.As the Estates & Facilities Technical Manager, you will take ownership of a broad scope of technical responsibilities, from strategic asset planning and compliance to the delivery of capital projects, mobilisation of new schemes, and resolution of complex latent defects. This role demands a strong technical background, especially in electrical systems and hard services, as well as experience managing large-scale M&E, HVAC, and compliance frameworks.This position is perfect for someone who is looking to lead at a national level, with a blend of strategic input and on-the-ground technical oversight. Travel required: 3-4 days per week.Key Responsibilities:Provide technical leadership across a national residential portfolio, particularly around defect rectification, lifecycle projects, and planned preventative maintenance.Act as the subject matter expert on M&E systems, including electrical infrastructure, compliance audits, and regulatory frameworks.Lead on the mobilisation and technical integration of new developments, acquisitions and refurbishments.Review and ensure accuracy of handover documentation, certifications, warranties, and asset registers.Oversee project management of key capital works and large-scale repair initiatives.Act as the appointed person for electrical policies and procedures, ensuring all works meet internal standards and statutory regulations.Provide technical reports and board-level briefings on asset condition, compliance, and planned projects.Act as the interface between site teams, contractors, and operational leadership to deliver effective solutions and ensure continuity of service.What We're Looking ForEssential Requirements:Recognised qualification in a built environment discipline or project management.18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and City & Guilds 2391-52 Level 3 (or equivalent).In-depth knowledge of building systems including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.Proven experience managing hard services and technical compliance across multiple sites.Strong background in commissioning, mobilisation, and handover of new-build or refurbishment projects.Excellent understanding of health & safety regulations, statutory compliance, and facilities standards.Demonstrable leadership experience in a multi-stakeholder, fast-paced operational environment.Desirable:Awareness or experience with the Building Safety Act 2022 and its practical implications.Membership of IWFM, IOSH, APM or other relevant professional body.Familiarity with asset lifecycle planning, risk management, and vendor performance control.Why Apply?Strategic national role with significant influence over technical and operational delivery.Work on a high-quality, modern property portfolio.Excellent opportunity for an experienced technical FM professional to step into a leadership role with visibility at executive level.Competitive package with scope for progression.Location: National travel required (flexible home base)Travel: 3-4 days per week
