About the Role

<h1>Principal Product Manager - Agentic Investigation & Reliability Experiences</h1> Sumo Logic is hiring a Principal Product Manager to lead how engineers and operators investigate incidents, understand reliability risk, and act on their operational and security telemetry. The observability category was built around collecting telemetry and giving people tools to navigate it: dashboards, queries, monitors, traces, and alerts. Customer expectations are now shifting. Teams don't just want more dashboards; they want help getting from a signal to a resolution, understanding what's broken, why, what's impacted, and what to do next. As AI agents move into production operations, this role owns how Sumo Logic brings intelligent, agent-assisted investigation and reliability workflows to customers, grounded in evidence, context, and enterprise governance. This is a senior, high-ownership role. It requires genuine observability domain background. You should have lived in this space and understand how monitoring, troubleshooting, and reliability actually work, combined with the ambition to define a new category of experience on top of it. <h2>What You Will Own</h2> The current data experiences. Log Search, Live Tail, query and query optimization, Metrics Search, Tracing, Dashboards, and the data-experience UI. This is a live, revenue-generating product with real customers, and keeping it strong is part of the job. You own its health, roadmap, and competitiveness today while steering it toward an AI-native future, focusing new investment where it strengthens investigation, speed, and value for both new and power users. The reliability and alerting surface. Monitors, Alerts, SLOs, Scheduled Searches, and the reliability workflows around them. You will own alerting accuracy, noise reduction, and operational health signals both as capabilities customers depend on today and as the foundation for more automated, agent-assisted detection and investigation. The agentic investigation experience. You will define how a user moves from a search, a monitor, a dashboard, or an alert to likely cause faster, with supporting evidence. This means productizing investigation workflows that reason across logs, metrics, traces, monitors, dashboards, and related context, and evolving them from reactive troubleshooting toward more proactive detection over time. <h2>What You Will Be Doing</h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Set the multi-quarter vision for Sumo Logic's investigation and reliability experiences, and turn it into a roadmap engineering can execute against.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Own the roadmap, health, and competitiveness of the current data and reliability product surfaces.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Define how search, metrics, tracing, dashboards, monitors, alerts, and SLOs evolve from human-navigated tools into more intuitive, AI-assisted experiences.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Productize investigation workflows that reason across telemetry and related operational context, and surface findings customers can act on.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Own alerting accuracy, noise reduction, and operational health signals.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Shape how skills, tools, and agents are built on top of the data surfaces, and ensure they respect enterprise controls such as RBAC, audit, cost limits, and approvals.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Work with engineering and architecture on query execution, performance, and reliability at enterprise scale.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Translate strategy into clear PRDs, proposals, user stories, acceptance criteria, and phased rollout plans.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Use telemetry to understand how customers search, investigate, and configure alerts, and where they hit friction, latency, false positives, or cost.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Create leadership-facing proposals that frame tradeoffs across customer demand, governance, performance, cost, and long-term architecture.</li> </ul> <h2>What You Bring</h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">8+ years of product management experience with real observability or monitoring domain background. You have owned products in observability, monitoring, incident response, APM, or a closely adjacent operational-telemetry space. This is a hard requirement.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Deep, first-hand understanding of the observability surface area including logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, monitors, alerts, and SLOs, and of how engineers and operators actually investigate incidents and decide what to trust.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Proven ability to run a live, at-scale product, owning the roadmap, health, and competitiveness of shipping surfaces while driving a larger transformation.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">A track record of owning broad, technically deep surfaces and setting direction that other teams build on.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Familiarity with how AI and agents are changing data interaction, including natural-language investigation, tools, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop action, or the ability to ramp quickly.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Strong technical instincts around query engines, time-series and trace data, and alerting systems, plus the judgment to know where an AI-assisted experience should replace a manual flow and where depth must stay.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Strong analytical skills and comfort using telemetry, dashboards, SQL, and usage data to understand adoption, friction, reliability, and cost.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Excellent communication across technical and business audiences, and the ability to write clear proposals, decision docs, PRDs, and acceptance criteria.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">High ownership and drive to make progress across a large, ambiguous, fast-moving surface.</li> </ul> <h2>Must-Have Qualities</h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Runs today, builds tomorrow.
