About the Role

Key Responsibilities Procedure Development & Qualification: Develop, write, and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) in compliance with ASME, API, or AWS codes. Production & Shop Support: Supervise on-floor welding activities, troubleshoot daily issues, and ensure compliance with approved procedures to maintain production schedules. Welder Training & Qualification: Qualify welders (WPQR) and maintain certification records; provide training to improve technique, safety, and efficiency. Failure Analysis & Corrective Actions: Conduct root cause analysis on weld failures (e.g., cracking, distortion) and implement corrective and preventive measures. Quality Control (QC) & Inspection: Knowledge of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods (RT, UT, PT, MT) and PWHT (Post-Weld Heat Treatment). ASNT level -II NDT qualified highly preferred. Material Selection & Consumables: Determine appropriate welding methods and filler metals for various alloys, including low-alloy steels and stainless steels. Automation & Technology: Implement automated welding systems (e.g., orbital welding, robotics) to improve productivity. Required Skills and Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or Mechanical Engineering. Experience: 4–6 years of experience in heavy fabrication, pressure vessels, oil & gas. Codes & Standards: Knowledge of ASME Section VIII & IX, AWS D1.1, or API standards. Certifications: Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certifications are highly preferred. Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office (especially Excel) for data tracking. Soft Skills: Strong technical writing, communication, and leadership skills to mentor junior technicians and liaise with clients. KSB is a leading supplier of pumps, valves and related service.
