About the Role
UK Group Accounting Manager
A leading international law firm firm is seeking an experienced UK Group Accounting Manager to take ownership of statutory reporting, consolidations, and UK GAAP compliance across a multi‑entity group. This is a key technical role within a high‑calibre finance function and offers the opportunity to influence process improvements, strengthen controls, and play a central part in audit and reporting activities.
Reporting to the UK Group Financial Controller, you will ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting for six UK entities, including the consolidation of related non‑UK entities under UK GAAP. You'll collaborate closely with finance teams across multiple locations and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare statutory accounts for UK group entities, including consolidations and UK GAAP conversions for both UK and non‑UK components.
Maintain accurate books and records through regular balance sheet and P&L reviews, partnering with international finance teams.
Serve as the day‑to‑day contact for UK external auditors, managing queries and preparing audit working papers.
Proactively research developments in UK GAAP, advising on implications and supporting updates to accounting policies.
Support the development of tools and software to streamline financial statement production and enhance audit readiness.
Contribute to the documentation of accounting policies and best‑practice guidelines to drive efficiency and reduce manual processes.
Collaborate with global accounting teams on UK GAAP and cross‑border accounting matters.
Mentor and support finance team members as required.
Assist the UK Group Financial Controller with ad hoc projects and wider process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with substantial post‑qualification experience.
Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, including consolidations, and familiarity with relevant standards for professional services/law firms (e.g., LLP SORP).
Audit experience within professional services, ideally within the legal sector.
Proven track record in statutory accounts preparation for both limited companies and partnerships.
