Overview
GovCIO is currently hiring for a remote Senior Enterprise Architect to support the US Courts.
Responsibilities
The team is looking to add a highly experienced Network Architect to lead the design, modernization, and optimization of large-scale government enterprise networks. This role is responsible for establishing and enforcing network architecture standards and driving strategic modernization initiatives, including SD-WAN, cloud and hybrid connectivity, network segmentation, Zero Trust architectures, data center networking, and Cisco-based WAN solutions. The Network Architect ensures that all network solutions are secure, resilient, scalable, and highly available across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
Duties:
Support advanced development, engineering, and support of the DCN
Consult and advise AO, DTS, and local court IT staff on critical IT network architecture decisions and issues by conducting industry research, performing Analysis of Alternatives studies
Create, maintain, and update deliverables including Network Requirements Documents, Network Topology Diagrams, Network Design Documents, Capacity Planning Analyses, and Quality of Service (QoS) Design Specifications
Design end-to-end enterprise network architectures (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, data center, cloud, and edge)
Define network standards, reference architectures, and design patterns
Lead network segmentation, zero-trust, and defense-in-depth strategies
Architect high-availability, disaster recovery, and resiliency solutions
Lead SD-WAN, cloud connectivity (AWS, Azure, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect), and network transformation initiatives
Evaluate emerging technologies and vendors; perform technical trade studies
Develop long-term network roadmaps aligned with business and security objectives
Support legacy network migration and technical debt reduction
Integrate security controls including firewalls, IPS/IDS, DNS security, and network monitoring
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on compliance (FISMA, NIST, Zero Trust)
Ensure architectures meet audit, compliance, and accreditation requirements
Zscaler Zero trust architecture
Qualifications
Bachelor's with 8+ years of network architecture experience (or commensurate experience)
7+ years of enterprise networking experience with 5+ years in an architecture role
Advanced and deep expertise in network design, management, and troubleshooting
Required technical expertise includes extensive experience with:
Enterprise routing and switching architectures
Secure network perimeter and remote access solutions
Cisco enterprise networking and WAN technologies
SD-WAN and cloud connectivity architectures
Network security and visibility platforms, including Cisco, Zscaler, Gigamon, McAfee, F5, and comparable enterprise solutions
Clearance Required: Ability to maintain a Public Trust clearance
