1:1 TA (PICA) - Coventry

About the role:

Justteachers is looking for a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student with PICA at a specialist school in North Coventry. This is a full-time position beginning in September 2026 and continuing through the entire academic year.

The school supports pupils aged 4 to 19 with a range of complex needs, including Moderate to Profound Learning Difficulties (MLD/PMLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech and language challenges, and sensory impairments. The team is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all students.

In this role, you will work closely with a single student diagnosed with PICA, providing tailored support in line with their educational and care plan. You will collaborate with a skilled multidisciplinary team to ensure the student’s safety, engagement, and progress in both academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 support in accordance with individual learning and care needs.
• Monitor and manage behaviours associated with PICA, maintaining a safe environment.
• Support communication, sensory integration, and physical needs as part of a holistic approach.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, and mobility when required.
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and family members.

Pre-requisites:

• Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience supporting pupils with complex needs or behaviours related to PICA is highly desirable.
• A nurturing, patient, and proactive approach to behaviour management and care.
• Two relevant references from education or care settings.
