About the Role

<strong>Job Requirements </strong><br><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">At the University of Maryland Medical Center’s Shock Trauma Center, a Registered Nurse in the hyperbaric chamber provides specialized care for critically injured patients. Working inside a pressurized, oxygen-rich chamber, the nurse monitors vital signs, gives medications, and ensures patient safety during treatment. With training in both critical care and hyperbaric medicine, they help treat conditions like carbon monoxide poisoning and severe wounds while working closely with the trauma team. Provides and coordinates independent care to patients within a clinical specialty as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. </span></p><br/><p><strong style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">This role will require working as an inside tender within the hyperbaric chamber, in an elevated pressure environment.</strong><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> </span></p><br/><p><strong style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Education & Experience - Required</strong></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> </span></p><ul><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Current CPR certification is required. </span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Maintenance of 10 contact hours of education every two years.</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Recent applicable clinical experience in a comparable setting.</span></li></ul><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> </span></p><p><strong style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Education & Experience - Preferred</strong></p><ul><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">BSN preferred. </span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Two (2) years of critical care nursing experience is preferred. Solid knowledge and clinical skills.</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Membership in a professional organization is preferred.</span></li></ul><p><strong style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">        </strong></p><br><br><strong>Work Experience </strong><br><p><strong style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities</strong></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> </span></p><ul><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Responsible for maintaining competencies required for the patient care setting; focus on advancing own professional development</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Ability to practice and adhere to the guidelines specified in the UMMC Role of the Professional           Nurse Job Charter/Description.</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Demonstrates highly effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Demonstrates leadership qualities through effectiveness as charge nurse, preceptor, or clinical resource. </span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Demonstrates effectiveness as a multidisciplinary team member.</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Ability to learn and use computer systems to manage patient information. </span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Ability to participate in team-building efforts on units; supports and models teamwork</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs.  </span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Selected Candidates will be required to undergo and pass a dive-specific medical evaluation which includes an in-chamber qualification dive to determine their clearance to serve as an inside tender. The ability to support in chamber patient care is required.</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Ability to ensure patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives.</span></li><li class="ql-indent-1"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.</span></li><li class="ql-indent-1"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.</span></li><li class="ql-indent-1"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.</span></li></ul><br><br>
