About the role:
We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in Huddersfield from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position, offering an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to inspire a love of English and help students achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and creative lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress and attainment
- Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of learners of varying abilities
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in accordance with school policies
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support student achievement
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English Language and Literature
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to motivate, engage, and inspire students of all abilities
- Strong organisational skills and a commitment to high educational standards
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
