Sirius Staffing is partnering with an established refinery in Tuscaloosa, AL that is deeply invested in operational excellence and the local community. We are seeking a Process Engineer with refinery experience who wants hands-on technical ownership, high visibility, and meaningful impact.
We are looking for an engineer who wants to be in the units, solving problems, driving optimization, and leading improvements — not just reviewing data from a desk.
What You’ll Own
As a Process Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical resource for assigned refinery units and operating systems.
You will:
Operations & Technical Leadership
Provide daily process monitoring and operational troubleshooting
Identify process limitations and lead resolution efforts
Support unit startups, shutdowns, and maintenance activities
Partner closely with Operations, Mechanical, EHS, and Management
Participate in and lead PSM activities (HAZOPs, MOC, compliance support)
Monitor trends and proactively prevent performance issues
Process Improvement & Optimization
Identify and implement improvements in safety, reliability, and profitability
Design and support execution of process modifications
Lead MOC preparation and approval efforts
Assist with commissioning and troubleshooting of projects
Drive energy optimization and cost reduction initiatives
Technical & Cross-Functional Impact
Serve as a technical resource across departments
Support environmental compliance and regulatory requirements
Contribute to development and improvement of unit procedures
Support training efforts within operations

Qualifications
Required:
B.S. in Chemical Engineering
3–6 years of refinery experience (hands-on process engineering experience required)
Experience supporting refinery processing units
Exposure to PSM programs including HAZOP and MOC
Strong troubleshooting and data analysis capabilities
Preferred:
Experience with process modeling or equipment rating software
Demonstrated leadership in process improvement initiatives
Work Requirements
Valid driver’s license
Ability to support turnarounds and occasional on-call rotation
Must be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection, including SCBA (up to 35 lbs)
Must meet clean-shaven requirements for respirator seal compliance
