About the Role
Childcare Worker / Trainee Therapeutic CarerLocation: Residential Children’s Homes (with potential work across other group settings)
We are seeking a committed and compassionate individual to join a therapeutic care environment, supporting children and young people with complex emotional and developmental needs. This role offers the opportunity to develop into a Therapeutic Carer through training, supervision, and hands-on experience.
Working Pattern
Full-time, shift-based (5 shifts per week)
Early shifts: 07:30 – 15:30
Late shifts:
14:30 – 22:30
Hourly rate depending on experience £12.50-£14.00 per hour
Weekend and occasional flexible working required
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality daily care to children and support their emotional, physical, and educational needs
Promote a safe, nurturing, and homely environment
Support children with routines, activities, and engagement in education
Assist with domestic tasks including cooking, cleaning, and general household duties
Maintain accurate records and contribute to care plans and reports
Support safeguarding and promote the welfare of all children at all times
Build positive, professional relationships with children, colleagues, families, and external professionals
Encourage positive behaviour using agreed therapeutic approaches
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and attend meetings, training, and supervision sessions
Contribute to a culture of safety, equality, and continuous improvement
Safeguarding & Compliance
Strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection is essential
All work is carried out in line with current legislation, regulatory frameworks, and organisational policies
Candidates must understand the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries
What We’re Looking For
Understanding of child development and good childcare practice
Experience working with children or young people (desirable)
Good communication and written skills
Ability to work as part of a team and follow guidance
Basic ICT skills for record keeping and reporting
Awareness of the challenges faced by children in care
A patient, resilient, and emotionally aware approach
