Accounting Manager (Manufacturing)

Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead financial reporting, cost accounting, and monthly close processes within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financials, driving cost efficiencies, and supporting strategic business decisions.
The ideal candidate brings a strong manufacturing accounting background, leadership experience, and thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and internal controls
Lead financial audits and serve as liaison with external auditors
Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure timely reconciliations
Cost Accounting & Inventory Management
Oversee cost accounting functions including cost structures, variance analysis, and profitability
Manage inventory valuation and coordinate physical inventory audits
Partner with operations to optimize material, labor, and overhead costs
Process Improvement & Systems
Identify and implement process improvements across accounting functions
Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies
Support ERP system enhancements and implementations
Leadership & Team Management
Supervise and mentor accounting team members (AP, AR, Cost Accounting)
Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and leadership
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’ s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of accounting experience (manufacturing environment required)
Prior leadership or management experience
CPA or CMA preferred; Big 4 experience a plus
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills
Expertise in inventory, standard costing, and variance analysis
Core Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Proven ability to work cross-functionally
Work Environment
Onsite position
May require extended hours during month-end close and audits
Preferred Qualifications
Master’ s degree or MBA
Experience with process improvement initiatives
Familiarity with SOX compliance
