Sonia is the Careers and Employability Adviser working closely with the School of Technology, Business and Arts, offering curriculum-based sessions, workshops, and 1-2-1 career coaching appointments.
Her primary role is to work with students, researchers, and graduates to support them with planning their careers, developing their employability, making informed career choices, and achieving their objectives. She delivers impartial, 1:1 careers information, advice and guidance through different mediums including Teams, in-person, email and phone.
She also supports course design, validation and revalidation of new and existing courses, playing a key role in ensuring that Employability, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship - the 3 E's, including the University’s Graduate Attributes, are truly embedded throughout degree programmes at all levels.
Studied Psychology in Portugal and she has experienced a variety of roles such as HR Consultant in a multinational recruitment agency Randstad and Careers and People Development Consultant at Porto Business School – University of Porto. In 2020/21 completed the Postgraduate Certificate Academic Practice (PGCAP) and received a professional postgraduate qualification attaining international professional recognition as a Fellow of Higher Education (FHEA) awarded by Advance HE.
