About the Role
<p>An innovative education and residential program serving students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) is seeking a compassionate and skilled School Social Worker. In this role, you will support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral growth through counseling, assessment, and collaboration with families and interdisciplinary teams. You’ll play a vital part in helping students achieve academic success while navigating complex psychosocial challenges in both school and residential settings.</p>
<p>Title: School Social Worker – Educational & Residential Setting<br />
Location: Rochester, NY Area<br />
Salary: $65,000 – $80,000/year<br />
Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site</p>
<p>Key Responsibilities:<br />
Provide individual and group counseling to support students’ emotional, behavioral, and academic development.<br />
Complete psychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in coordination with the broader care team.<br />
Participate in admissions processes, identifying students’ social service needs and formulating both short- and long-term goals.<br />
Collaborate in the development and implementation of behavior management programs.<br />
Update treatment plans based on evolving client needs and progress.<br />
Educate and counsel clients and their families on relevant social, mental health, and economic concerns to promote independence and well-being.<br />
Facilitate family engagement and conduct family meetings with appropriate consent.<br />
Provide referral services and assist with discharge planning and long-term care coordination.<br />
Collaborate with educational, clinical, and residential staff during interdisciplinary team meetings, offering recommendations and psychosocial insight.<br />
Lead and facilitate therapeutic and educational group sessions.<br />
Maintain ethical standards in accordance with NASW guidelines and agency policies.<br />
Ensure accurate, timely documentation in compliance with organizational and funding requirements.<br />
Actively participate in staff development, professional training, and in-service education.</p>
<p>Qualifications:<br />
Master’s Degree in Social Work (LMSW preferred but not required).<br />
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and adolescents with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD).<br />
Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and a deep commitment to serving children in therapeutic and educational environments.<br />
Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team setting.<br />
Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.<br />
