Hybrid/London (2 days per week onsite)

I am supporting a major media and technology organisation in securing 2-3 experienced Architects to join a large-scale cloud transformation and data platform programme.

This is a hands-on architecture role focused on designing highly scalable, cloud-native services and event-driven platforms operating at significant scale. The successful candidates will work closely with engineering, product and platform teams to define solution architectures that support real-time data processing, high-volume API services and distributed data platforms.

My client is particularly interested in architects with experience designing modern cloud-native platforms and distributed systems.

If you have a proven track record of designing highly scalable cloud-native platforms across AWS and/or GCP and are available for a hybrid contract engagement in London, I'd be keen to speak with you.

Role Responsibilities:

• Define end-to-end solution architecture for large-scale, distributed systems.
• Design highly available, resilient cloud-native services capable of handling significant throughput and low-latency processing requirements.
• Create architecture artefacts covering system design, integration patterns, data flows and non-functional requirements.
• Drive technical decision-making and architectural governance across multiple engineering teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, product, data and platform functions.
• Identify architectural risks, trade-offs and opportunities, providing clear recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support the evolution of modern data and analytics capabilities across the wider platform landscape.

We are specifically looking for architects with recent experience designing and delivering cloud-native platforms rather than traditional enterprise middleware environments;

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect or Enterprise Architect within large-scale cloud environments.
• Strong architecture and design experience across distributed systems, microservices and API-led platforms.
• Experience designing high-scale, self-built API services with demanding scalability, reliability and availability requirements.
• Strong understanding of event-driven and asynchronous architectures.
• Experience with technologies such as:
  • AWS SNS/SQS
  • Google Pub/Sub
  • Kafka
  • REST and gRPC services
• Strong experience with modern distributed data platforms including:
  • DynamoDB
  • BigTable
  • BigQuery
  • NoSQL and cloud-native data technologies
• Ability to produce architecture proposals, influence technical direction and drive architectural change across engineering organisations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Multi-cloud experience across AWS and GCP.
• Real-time event processing and streaming platforms.
• High-volume data platforms and analytics environments.
• Experience supporting AI/ML-enabled data ecosystems.
