Network Infrastructure Engineer Cambridge (4 days onsite)£45k-£48kDo you enjoy working with physical infrastructure rather than purely cloud environments?We're looking for an experienced Infrastructure & Network Engineer to join a specialist engineering team responsible for maintaining a highly technical on-premises hardware testing environment. This is a hands-on role where you'll be involved in everything from designing and maintaining network infrastructure to racking equipment, managing cabling and supporting critical lab operations.If you enjoy solving networking problems, building resilient infrastructure and getting your hands on enterprise hardware, this could be an excellent opportunity.What you'll be doingYou'll take ownership of the networking and physical infrastructure that underpins a busy engineering lab, including:Configuring and troubleshooting VLANs, routing, switching and link aggregationInstalling, racking and cabling servers, switches and other network equipmentBuilding and maintaining structured cabling and ensuring rack layouts follow industry best practiceSupporting and maintaining an on-premises network environmentDeploying and configuring new infrastructure hardwareTroubleshooting network connectivity and infrastructure issuesMaintaining accurate documentation including rack layouts, cabling maps and infrastructure recordsWorking closely with engineering teams to support hardware testing environments and customer equipmentResponding to incidents, planned infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiativesWhat we're looking forWe're particularly interested in people who have worked in a hands-on infrastructure, networking or data centre environment.We’re looking for experience with:VLAN configuration, routing, switching and network troubleshootingHands-on installation of racks, structured cabling and physical infrastructureManaging on-premises environments rather than cloud-only platformsNetwork hardware including switches, patch panels ectLinux administration, including installation, configuration and troubleshootingAbout youYou'll be someone who enjoys practical engineering work as much as solving technical problems.
