Primary Behavioural Support Teaching Assistant Peterborough

About the role:

Justteachers are recruiting on behalf of one of our partner primary schools in Peterborough for a dedicated and compassionate Behavioural Support Teaching Assistant. This welcoming and inclusive school is seeking to appoint a committed individual for an immediate start. The position will initially be on a long-term supply basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent role following a successful placement period.

As a Behavioural Support Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour or require additional emotional and behavioural guidance. Working closely with class teachers, SEN staff and school leaders, you will help create a safe, structured and nurturing environment where every child can succeed both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional or additional learning needs within a primary school setting
• Understanding of behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model
• Patience, resilience and a calm approach when working with challenging behaviours
• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to encourage engagement and progress
• Work alongside teachers to implement behaviour support plans and interventions
• Help create a positive learning environment that promotes inclusion and wellbeing
• Monitor and report on pupil progress, behaviour and development

Pre-requisites:

• Referenceable experience working within a school environment in the last two years
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain adaptable and positive in a fast-paced environment
• A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
