About the Role

Due to an impending retirement, one of the leading healthcare systems in the Midwest is excited to recruit a spine neurosurgeon to their sophisticated team for 2027. Those with experience and newly trained graduates are encouraged to apply. Mentorship is readily available.<br><br>The hiring hospital is the flagship of the locally-owned and governed healthcare system. The hospital is a 400+-bed, all-private room regional referral center providing care in virtually every specialty. It is a Level I Trauma Center, it is recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and has a comprehensive cancer program. The hospital is Magnet designated for nursing excellence and is nationally recognized for quality and patient experience. The hospital is also recognized as a Top Workplace by Forbes and Newsweek.<br><br>Cases can also be performed at a Level III, 200+-bed, all-private room community hospital that is recognized by the Leapfrog Group as one of the country’s safest hospitals and that received the 2024 Surgical Excellence Award™ by Healthgrades.<br><br>Practice Highlights:<br>• Call will be 1:5<br>• Monday through Friday APPs take first call and the hospitalist team does a fantastic job of managing ER patients; the neurosurgeons rarely come into the hospital.<br>• There are eight APPs on staff to run clinic, round, and take first call during the day.<br>• 80/20 mix of spine and cranial cases.<br>• Both hospitals are equipped with an O-Arm and Stealth.<br>• Large internal referral base of employed primary care providers with a terrific catchment area of nine counties.<br>• Anticipated volume of 8k RVUs in year one, current surgeons are at the MGMA 75th percentile in productivity.<br>• 12 bed neuro-ICU with a 40-bed neurovascular unit where most neurosurgery/spine candidates go.<br>• Strong clinic culture; no regrettable MA or RN turnover in Neurosurgery since 2022.<br>• One of the highest performing EPIC hospitals in the country.<br>• Competitive compensation including starting bonus, relocation, CME and student loan forgiveness.<br><br>The area offers a diverse cultural opportunity, affordable real estate, and a major focus on education.
