About the Role

Navigation Engineer II Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an Engineer II to join the ECUs (Electronic Control Units) and Applications Team of the Infotainment Development Department What You Will Do: Apply engineering expertise to support the design, development, and validation of automotive navigation infotainment systems from an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) perspective Perform pre- and post-production navigation feature validation, identifying defects and driving them to closure using structured root cause analysis Maintain and drive closure of open issues discovered via design, development, validation, launch, and warranty/field reports Evaluate and validate North American navigation systems on the test bench, create test routes, and exercise performance tests developed from requirements developed by Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), HATCI engineering, and suppliers. Define, develop, and drive test plans to accomplish/meet field test standards.  Utilize knowledge of system behavior and architecture to support effective debugging and issue isolation across software, hardware, and integration layers Conduct testing across multiple navigation domains, including route calculation, turn-by-turn route guidance, map and point of interest search, GPS signal performance, positioning accuracy, and sensor fusion Develop and/or refine design specifications for North American navigation systems, including route planning/guidance, dead reckoning, global positioning systems (GPS), text-to-speech (TTS), voice recognition, and map database requirements Apply understanding of various navigation test methodologies and protocols commonly used in automotive infotainment systems Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support broader infotainment and navigation validation activities Contribute to a cross-functional team consisting of advanced electrical engineers and system engineers to ensure that current vehicle architectures support navigation and determine how future technologies will synergize with the navigation application(s) Interface with other HATCI groups, such as Infotainment Software, Electrical Design, Product Strategy, and Autonomous Driving Software Contribute to building increased technical ownership within the North America-based development team, aligning with the organization’s goal of expanding responsibility and reducing reliance on overseas research and development teams Contribute to the evaluation/development of off-board (server-based) navigation and connected car products for future vehicle applications Define specifications, create validation procedures based on specification review, validate test benches and vehicles, and track project progress Support innovative technologies for research and potential implementation into Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) vehicle platforms, cost savings, and technical road maps in an effort to improve HMG's infotainment systems/offerings Conduct studies/clinics, evaluate competitive systems, revise/create specifications, and troubleshoot the vehicle sub-system interactions Support interface audits, quality gate audits, and open field issues Manage the progress of specific hardware and software component development  Complete projects and meet milestone timing for vehicle development Create technical reports, performance summaries, and engineering presentations for management and cross-functional stakeholders What You Will Bring to the Role: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field 3+ years of developing specifications and design verification test plans pertaining to infotainment platforms, including navigation 1+ years of professional experience in infotainment system hardware and software design and/or its validation Experience utilizing automated tool sets for efficient and effective testing of navigation features Experience in the design and release of electric-related structures and components Familiarity with embedded systems validation Understanding of server development Experience in executing and validating scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions Familiarity with in-vehicle communication protocols Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Root-cause analysis skills Ability to solve complex design issues and perform effective root cause analysis Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skills Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
