However, we are not able to sponsor visas or take over sponsorship at this time. </em><span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"><em>#BI-Hybrid #LI-Hybrid</em></span></p> <p><strong>About the role:</strong></p> <p>As an Assistant General Counsel, you will be responsible for supporting litigation enterprise-wide. You are expected to have (or to develop) an in-depth understanding of the consumer and commercial finance laws and regulations that affect the company’s financial services businesses.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage individual, consolidated, and class action litigation, arbitration, and threatened claims involving the company’s businesses in areas that include general litigation, commercial and consumer disputes, labor and employment, bankruptcy, financial services and regulatory matters;</li> <li>Conduct internal fact investigation to assess claims and recommend effective strategies to defense or prosecution;</li> <li>Supervise, direct, and collaborate with outside counsel to develop and execute on effective enterprise and case-specific litigation strategies;</li> <li>Oversee discovery and subpoenas, including working with business clients and outside counsel, as needed;</li> <li>Advise business leaders on litigation strategy and dispute resolution, and collaborate with leaders to drive desired outcomes;&nbsp;</li> <li>Track all assigned claims and litigation matters and monitor for trends and patterns; and</li> <li>Counsel business partners on legal and compliance risks and collaborate to find optimal business solutions while minimizing risk.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Juris Doctor from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials, and active bar membership in good standing with at least one state; ability to practice in Illinois (licensed or under Illinois Supreme Court Rule 716)</li> <li>6+ years of relevant experience at a law firm and/or as in-house counsel</li> <li>Experience in consumer financial services or e-commerce is a plus; strong interest in developing deep industry knowledge is required</li> <li>Ability to analyze local, state, and federal laws and provide clear, concise guidance to business partners</li> <li>Strong judgment, critical thinking, and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage litigation matters independently and drive favorable outcomes</li> <li>Ability to take ownership of work, manage competing priorities under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and handle a high-volume workload</li> <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively</li> <li>Adaptability and willingness to quickly develop new areas of expertise</li> <li>Experience litigating in multiple jurisdictions (state, federal, and arbitration) is a plus</li> </ul> <p><strong>Compensation:</strong></p> <p>The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $122,000 to $165,000. Actual annual salary will be determined based on qualifications, skills, experience, and level assessed during the hiring process and may fall outside of the range shown. Additional compensation for this role may include a bonus and restricted stock units.
