You will serve as a key technical contributor to Verifone's VMware-to-KVM/CloudStack migration program and broader platform operations — bringing depth across Linux, Windows, storage, and DevOps tooling while operating within a PCI DSS environment. This is a role for an experienced engineer who can independently own workstreams, mentor junior team members, and drive cross-team initiatives with limited supervision. You will proactively identify issues, propose solutions, and deliver results that directly impact Verifone's infrastructure reliability and compliance posture. <h2>Key Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li> Virtualization & Cloud Platform <ul class="[li_&]:mb-0 [li_&]:mt-1 [li_&]:gap-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3"> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Lead the design and execution of KVM/libvirt hypervisor deployments across US data centers.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Drive VMware-to-KVM/CloudStack workload migrations end-to-end, including planning, VM conversion, storage migration, and cutover coordination.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Administer CloudStack zones, clusters, templates, and storage pools; own VM lifecycle operations at scale.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Independently troubleshoot complex hypervisor, networking, and storage performance issues.</li> </ul> DevOps Tooling & Automation <ul class="[li_&]:mb-0 [li_&]:mt-1 [li_&]:gap-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3"> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Own and maintain Ansible playbooks for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and patching at scale.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Build and manage Jenkins CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure-as-code workflows and automated deployments.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Lead adoption of Git-based IaC practices across the team and guide junior engineers' automation contributions.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Develop Python and Bash automation to reduce operational toil and improve consistency across environments.</li> </ul> Windows & Linux Server Operations <ul class="[li_&]:mb-0 [li_&]:mt-1 [li_&]:gap-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3"> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Administer RHEL/Rocky/Ubuntu Linux and Windows Server environments — provisioning, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Support Active Directory domain decommission and consolidation, including legacy Windows Server migration activities.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Enforce OS security baselines aligned to PCI DSS v4.0 and provide evidence for audit cycles.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Serve as Tier 3 escalation for OS-level incidents across Linux and Windows platforms.</li> </ul> Storage <ul class="[li_&]:mb-0 [li_&]:mt-1 [li_&]:gap-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3"> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Manage SAN/NAS environments including LUN provisioning, zoning, multipath I/O, and iSCSI/FC configuration.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Support Pure Storage FlashArray and VMAX operations, migrations, and performance troubleshooting.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Integrate block and file storage with KVM/CloudStack primary and secondary storage pools.</li> </ul> Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration <ul class="[li_&]:mb-0 [li_&]:mt-1 [li_&]:gap-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3"> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Provide guidance and day-to-day support to junior engineers; assist with onboarding and informal training.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Liaise with networking, security, and storage teams to coordinate complex cross-domain changes.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Participate in on-call rotation as a senior escalation resource.</li> <li class="font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2">Document runbooks, architecture decisions, and procedures in Confluence; manage work via ServiceNow and Jira.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <h2>Required Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>7+ years in enterprise systems engineering or IT infrastructure, with demonstrated scope expansion over time </li> <li>4+ years of production KVM/libvirt hypervisor management </li> <li>Strong Linux administration — RHEL/Rocky/CentOS or Debian-based at scale </li> <li>Windows Server administration — Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, GPO, and domain lifecycle </li> <li>Ansible — authoring and maintaining playbooks for multi-environment configuration management </li> <li>Jenkins or equivalent CI/CD pipeline experience for infrastructure automation </li> <li>Scripting proficiency in Bash and Python </li> <li>SAN storage administration — LUN management, zoning, multipath I/O, iSCSI or Fibre Channel </li> <li>Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and guide technical work </li> <li>Experience working within PCI DSS or another regulated compliance framework </li> </ul> <h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>CloudStack or OpenStack orchestration platform experience </li> <li>Prior VMware-to-KVM migration programme experience </li> <li>Pure Storage FlashArray or Dell EMC VMAX/PowerMax administration </li> <li>HPE Synergy or BladeSystem chassis operations </li> <li>RHCE, RHCSA, or equivalent Linux certification </li> <li>Git-based IaC workflow experience (Terraform, GitOps patterns) </li> <li>Exposure to SIEM/FIM tooling (Wazuh, Splunk, or similar) </li> </ul> <h2>Our Commitment</h2> Verifone is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
