HGV Chassis Fabricator<br> <br>📍 <strong>Stoke-on-Trent (ST4) | Full Time, On-Site</strong><br>💰 <strong>£16:00 - £18:00 per hours</strong><br>🕒 <strong>Monday to Friday 42.5 hours per week</strong><br> <br>We are seeking a skilled and motivated professional on behalf of our client, specialising in vehicle chassis modifications and engineering. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality alterations, installations, and problem-solving across a range of commercial vehicles.<br> <br>The HGV Chassis Fabricator job is Full time on site, ST4 in Stoke-on-Trent, Monday to Friday 0800 – 17.30<br> <br> <strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><br> <br><strong>Wheelbase Alterations</strong><br><ul><li>Carry out precise extension or shortening of vehicle wheelbases to optimise weight distribution and improve manoeuvrability</li></ul><strong>Axle Configuration</strong><br><ul><li>Reposition, add, or remove axles as required</li><ul><li>Ensure correct axle weight distribution in line with operational and regulatory requirements</li></ul></ul><strong>Component Integration</strong><br><ul><li>Install and integrate essential chassis components, including: <br><ul><li>Suspension systems</li><ul><li>Braking systems</li><li>Electrical systems</li><li>Hydraulic systems</li></ul></ul></li></ul><strong>Chassis & Body Modifications</strong><br><ul><li>Remove existing vehicle bodies and refit them to alternative chassis</li><ul><li>Modify and adapt subframes to suit new configurations</li><li>Fabricate and weld crossmembers where required to ensure structural integrity</li></ul></ul><strong>PTO System Installation</strong><br><ul><li>Install Power Take-Off (PTO) systems across a variety of truck platforms</li></ul><strong>Problem Solving & Diagnostics</strong><br><ul><li>Diagnose and resolve chassis-related issues, including: <br><ul><li>Structural weaknesses</li><ul><li>Mechanical failures</li><li>Electrical faults</li></ul></ul></li><ul><li>Apply root cause analysis techniques to deliver effective, long-term solutions</li></ul></ul><br> <strong>Skills & Experience</strong><br><ul><li>Proven experience in MIG and TIG welding (essential)</li><ul><li>Strong background in engineering, ideally within a related automotive or commercial vehicle industry</li><li>Experience operating forklift trucks for positioning parts and panels</li><li>Solid mechanical knowledge, particularly:<ul><li>Air systems</li><li>Brake systems on commercial vehicles</li></ul></ul></li><ul><li>Ability to fabricate and install bespoke, made-to-measure components</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex technical challenges</li><li>Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information clearly</li></ul></ul><br> <strong>Desirable (Not Essential) for the role of HGV Chassis Fabricator</strong><br><ul><li><strong>Class 1 or Class 2 driving licence</strong></li></ul>
