About the Role

HR & Administration OfficerLocation: NewhamAbout the RoleWe are seeking a highly organised and proactive HR & Administration Officer to provide essential administrative and HR support within a busy and dynamic school environment. This is a varied role requiring excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of HR processes, maintaining accurate staff records, supporting recruitment, and contributing to safeguarding compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesHR AdministrationMaintain and update the Single Central Record (SCR), ensuring compliance at all timesManage staff records using Arbor (Staff Information System)Process new starters, leavers, and staff changes, including contracts and documentationCoordinate safeguarding training for all staff and follow up on completionMaintain accurate personnel files and staff listsGeneral AdministrationProvide administrative support including filing, data entry, and report preparationManage HR and staff absence email inboxesTake meeting notes and produce accurate documentationRaise purchase orders and liaise with internal departmentsSickness & Absence ManagementMonitor daily staff absence reportsIssue and track return-to-work and self-certification formsUpdate absence records and produce reportsEscalate concerns to senior leadership where appropriateTraining & Development (CPD)Coordinate and book staff trainingLiaise with training providers and the finance teamMaintain accurate training records and produce reportsPerformance ManagementTrack and record performance management processesSupport the administration of appraisal cyclesFollow up with managers to ensure timely completionRecruitment SupportLiaise with agencies to advertise vacanciesArrange interviews and trial daysSupport pre-employment checks in line with safer recruitment practicesAssist with interview days and candidate coordinationWhat We're Looking ForStrong administrative and organisational skillsExcellent attention to detail and accuracyAbility to handle confidential information sensitivelyExperience with databases or HR systems (desirable)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamOur CommitmentWe are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
