SEMH 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Oldham

About the role:

Justeachers are searching for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a thriving SEMH school in Oldham for a long term role starting in September.

 

This specialist school supports children aged 4 to 16 with a diverse range of SEMH needs, providing an inclusive and nurturing environment.

 

This is a short-term, temporary role with an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support for pupils with SEMH needs.

 

Build strong, trusting relationships that nurture emotional wellbeing.

 

Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and social skills.

 

Collaborate with teaching staff to implement personalised support strategies.

 

Assist with de-escalation and lead restorative conversations when needed.

 

Help maintain a calm, safe, and nurturing school environment for all learners.

Pre-requisites:

Previous experience working with children in a school or similar setting (essential).

 

Background in supporting students with SEND, including Autism, SEMH, and other additional needs.

 

Ability to stay composed and patient when faced with challenging situations.

 

Strong commitment to supporting children’s learning and overall development.
