About the Role
This is an established cardiopulmonary department within an acute care facility. RCPs perform a full scope of respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures under the direction of the medical director and cardiopulmonary leadership. Night shift providers may be assigned Lead RCP responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Perform respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician
Assess, plan, implement, and document respiratory care with consideration of age and population-specific needs
Provide ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and airway management
Respond to respiratory emergencies and codes
Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and interdisciplinary care teams
May serve as Lead RCP during shift in the absence of a supervisor
Maintain accurate, timely documentation per departmental standards
Candidate Requirements: Required:
Active California RCP license
RRT credential from NBRC
Minimum 2 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience
Current BLS certification
Preferred:
ACLS certification
Experience with critical care ventilator management
Prior travel or per diem experience
Skills & Abilities:
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Comfortable working independently on night shift
Ability to manage diverse respiratory caseload across patient populations
Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Leadership capability for potential Lead RCP duties
