SENCo – Early Years Setting
Permanent • Part Time or Full Time • Near Horsham
A welcoming and nurturing nursery just outside the Horsham area is looking to appoint a passionate and knowledgeable Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join their dedicated Early Years team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves supporting young children, working closely with families, and ensuring every child can access the very best start in life.
About the Role
As the nursery’s SENCo, you will lead on the coordination of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision across the setting. You will work closely with practitioners, external agencies and families to ensure high‑quality support is in place for children with emerging or identified needs.
Your work will be essential in creating an inclusive, warm and child‑centred environment where every learner can flourish.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate SEND provision across the nursery
Work closely with practitioners to implement tailored support plans
Monitor children’s progress and ensure interventions are effective
Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals
Lead on EHCP processes and statutory documentation
Support staff in best practice, offering coaching and training where needed
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with SEND legislation
Promote inclusive practice and ensure every child has access to meaningful learning opportunities
What We’re Looking For
You will be someone who is:
Passionate about Early Years and children’s development
Experienced in working with children with SEND
Confident in liaising with families and professionals
Knowledgeable about the SEND Code of Practice and statutory procedures
Organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload
A supportive team player with excellent communication skills
Compassionate, patient and committed to inclusion
A Level 3 or above Early Years qualification is desirable. SENCo certification or willingness to complete training is also welcomed.
