Chemical Engineer I Laurens, SC | Direct Hire | $60,000 – $80,000/year A well-established specialty chemicals R&D company in Laurens, SC is hiring a Chemical Engineer I to join their engineering team. This is a hands-on R&D role focused on designing, building, and operating developmental manufacturing processes from lab scale through pilot and into production. If you're someone who likes to get your hands dirty solving complex process problems and seeing technology scale in real time, this is the role for you. What You'll Do You'll support the engineering group across the full lifecycle of chemical process development, from concept through commercialization. Design and build lab- and pilot-scale systems for chemical manufacturingPerform catalyst testing using lab and pilot systemsCollect and review process data to evaluate system and catalyst performanceDevelop and support catalyst manufacturing systems at lab, pilot, and production scalePerform engineering calculations (flows, heat transfer, mass balances, reactor performance) to support FEL packagesDevelop P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and process flow diagrams for system builds and client proposalsSupport automation of laboratory, pilot, and manufacturing systemsCoordinate contractors and internal resources to implement projectsTroubleshoot mechanical and process issuesParticipate in safety reviews and experimental planning What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; new graduates welcome, 3+ years of experience preferredHands-on experience with laboratory or pilot-scale operationsSolid understanding of chemical processes, material and energy balancesAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and process schematicsComfortable working on equipment and experimental systemsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work through novel R&D challengesAble to collaborate and contribute both as a team member and individual contributorExperience with FEL packages and processes (preferred)Experience with reactors, catalyst systems, or chemical process development (preferred)Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS or similar CAD software (preferred)Exposure to process modeling or data analysis tools such as Aspen or ChemCAD (preferred)Basic understanding of instrumentation, controls, or automation systems (preferred) To apply for the Chemical Engineer I position, please submit your resume in response to this ad or fill out an application on our website, impactstaffing.com.
