Taxi Driver (Local Taxi Firm)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and professional Taxi Driver to join our local taxi firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe, timely, and friendly transport services to customers within the local area, ensuring a high standard of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick up and drop off customers at requested locations within the local area
- Accept bookings via dispatch system, phone calls, or app-based requests
- Use knowledge of local routes to ensure efficient and timely journeys
- Provide excellent customer service, maintaining a polite and professional manner
- Assist passengers with luggage, shopping, or mobility needs when required
- Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, and roadworthy at all times
- Collect fares, process card or cash payments, and issue receipts when necessary
- Follow all licensing regulations, road laws, and company policies
- Communicate with the dispatch team regarding job status and availability
Requirements:
- Valid UK driving licence (held for at least 12 months)
- Valid taxi licence or willingness to obtain one (e.g. private hire or hackney carriage licence)
- DBS Checked
- Medical assessment – fit to drive
- Good knowledge of the local area and surrounding routes
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Punctual, dependable, and professional attitude
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience working for a local taxi company
- Familiarity with dispatch systems or ride-booking apps
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
Working Conditions:
- Shift-based work, including peak hours, evenings, and weekends
- Driving in various traffic and weather conditions
- Regular interaction with members of the public
