About the Role
Mobile Gas Combustion Engineer (Commercial / Industrial)
Salary: £43,000 – £50,000 per annum
Location: ICC Energy Centre, Cambridge Street, Birmingham, B1 2EA
(Mobile role covering Birmingham sites as required)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 07:30 – 16:00
Call Out: 1 in 5 rota (overtime available)

The Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Mobile Gas Combustion Engineer to join our team based out of the ICC Energy Centre in Birmingham. This is a key role supporting a large-scale district energy scheme, alongside maintenance of commercial plant rooms across the Birmingham area.
You will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance of commercial and industrial gas combustion plant, ensuring compliance, safety and performance across critical energy assets.
This role would suit a Gas Responsible Person with strong commercial and industrial experience.
Key Responsibilities
Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on commercial & industrial gas combustion plant
Fault finding, diagnostics and repair of boilers, burners, CHP systems and associated mechanical plant
Carry out minor installation works where required
Act as Gas Responsible Person (RP) for the discipline
Completion of all works via a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)
Develop and follow operating and isolation procedures
Weekly water condition testing in line with L8 / Legionella requirements
Ensure all statutory maintenance is completed to compliance standards
Participate in a 1:5 out-of-hours call out rota
Maintain excellent health & safety standards at all times
Skills & Experience Required
Qualified Gas Combustion Engineer
Commercial & Industrial gas qualifications (gas and/or dual fuel)
Experience working on commercial boilers, burners, CHP and L/MTHW systems
Proven background in PPM and reactive maintenance
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Comfortable working across multiple sites in a mobile role
Experience using CMMS / asset management systems
Knowledge of water treatment systems (desirable)
AP10 / AP11 or similar authorisations (advantageous)
Personal Specification
Gas Responsible Person (essential)
Strong communication and documentation skills
Safety-focused with a high attention to detail
Professional approach when dealing with clients and stakeholders
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team
