A global engineering competition

Formula Student attracts teams from numerous universities. The student engineering competition, which includes challenges both on and off the race track, provides the perfect opportunity for students to tie together the theoretical knowledge they have acquired at university with its real-world application. Participants in this unique, international competition are given just one year to develop, design, and produce a complete race car. They are also required to draw up a detailed business plan and develop a marketing concept for their race car. The highlight of each season is the Formula Student Germany race. Each year, over 100 teams from numerous different countries – a total of more than 3,000 students – bring the cars they have designed and built to the emblematic Hockenheimring race track to put their skills to the test. We have been one of the main sponsors of Formula Student Germany since 2008.

ETAS partnership

Each year, the Formula Student teams enjoy the benefits of ETAS products and product training provided through our partnership program.

The support we offer includes ETAS hardware and ETAS software solutions. The student teams we partner with also learn how to use the products and solutions in specific use cases. And if they run into problems, help is on hand! Our experts are always ready to offer the teams the advice and support they need.

We pay particular attention to addressing each team's individual requirements. That means not just helping them shave an extra tenth of a second off their race time, but also supporting them in the static disciplines. In 2015 we introduced a business plan workshop to ensure our teams are fully prepared for that aspect of the competition, too. Additionally, as part of the partnership program, we offer our teams the invaluable opportunity to test their vehicles under realistic race-like conditions at a driving and calibration event in Boxberg.

How to apply for partnership

All Formula Student teams are welcome to apply for ETAS partnership:

• Simply fill out the application form and send it to formulastudent@etas.com.
• You will need to provide a detailed description of how the ETAS products would be used in your vehicle and how you envision ETAS contributing to your team's overall success.
