<strong><em>Make an impact from day one in a fast‑paced, high‑expectation environment</em></strong><br><strong><em>This is not a standard support role.</em></strong><br><br>We’re looking for a <strong>senior, self‑sufficient Systems Support Engineer</strong> to step into a visible, trusted position within a highly professional, technically literate organisation operating at the top end of financial services.<br><br>This is a <strong>hands‑on contract role</strong> where you’ll own complex issues end‑to‑end, act as a senior escalation point, and work directly with demanding stakeholders who value clarity, judgement, and confidence.<br><br>If you thrive in environments where <strong>communication matters as much as technical skill</strong>, and where your work is immediately felt by senior decision‑makers, this role will suit you perfectly.<br><br><strong><em>The role at a glance</em></strong><br>As the senior L2/L3 presence within the service desk function, you’ll:<br><ul><li>Take ownership of <strong>complex, business‑critical incidents</strong>, seeing them through to full resolution</li><li>Act as a <strong>calm, credible escalation point</strong> for both technical teams and senior users</li><li>Balance day‑to‑day operational support with meaningful contribution to <strong>in‑flight infrastructure and security projects</strong></li><li>Work deeply within <strong>Microsoft 365</strong> as the firm’s core collaboration and productivity platform</li><li>Engage with a <strong>technically sophisticated user base</strong>, including senior stakeholders, where clear explanation and sound judgement are essential</li></ul><br><em>This is a role for someone who is comfortable operating independently, can quickly earn trust, and knows how to prioritise in a high‑expectation setting.</em><br><br><strong><em>What you’ll be responsible for</em></strong><br><ul><li>Owning and resolving L2/L3 incidents across Windows, macOS, M365, identity, networking, and endpoint tooling</li><li>Administering the Microsoft 365 estate: <strong>Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, and Azure AD / Entra ID</strong></li><li>Managing identity and access across the user lifecycle - onboarding, offboarding, access changes, and permissions</li><li>Applying and maintaining <strong>security and compliance controls</strong> including conditional access, MFA, DLP, retention, and endpoint compliance</li><li>Using <strong>PowerShell</strong> to automate administration, reduce manual effort, and accelerate resolution</li><li>Supporting and, where appropriate, leading IT initiatives such as security improvements, cloud changes, and tooling enhancements</li><li>Identifying recurring issues and driving <strong>root‑cause resolution</strong>, not papering over symptoms</li><li>Keeping systems and process documentation accurate, clear, and genuinely useful</li><li>Communicating directly with senior users in a composed, professional, solutions‑focused manner</li></ul><br><strong><em>What you’ll bring</em></strong><br><ul><li><strong>5+ years’ experience</strong> in enterprise IT support, with strong L2/L3 exposure</li><li>Deep, hands‑on <strong>Microsoft 365 administration experience</strong> - this is essential</li><li>Confident troubleshooting across <strong>Windows and macOS</strong> in mixed‑OS environments</li><li>Strong working knowledge of <strong>Azure AD / Entra ID</strong>, conditional access, MFA, and identity governance</li><li>Experience applying M365 <strong>security and compliance</strong> features as standard practice</li><li>Practical <strong>PowerShell scripting</strong> capability</li><li>Solid networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN, TCP/IP)</li><li>Experience working with structured <strong>ITSM platforms</strong> and managing SLAs</li><li>The confidence and judgement to engage credibly with senior, commercially focused stakeholders</li></ul><br><strong><em>Experience in financial services or private equity environments is highly advantageous, though not essential.</em></strong><br><br><strong><em>Why this role stands out</em></strong><br><ul><li><strong>Immediate responsibility and visibility</strong> - you’re trusted to operate at senior level from day one</li><li>A genuinely <strong>professional user base</strong> who value clarity, discretion, and competence</li><li>The chance to influence how systems, security, and support are delivered - even on a contract</li><li>Competitive day‑rate equivalent / salary for a six‑month engagement</li><li>A role where your <strong>communication style and stakeholder presence</strong> are as important as your technical strength</li></ul><br><strong><em>Note this role is being hired for a 6 month parental leave cover, on a temporary contract basis.
