About the Role
Engineer – Building ServicesSalary: Up to £48,000 + paid overtime & callout
Location: Liverpool Street, London (with occasional paid travel to Chelmsford)
Pareto FM has an opportunity for an experienced Building Services Engineer to join our on-site team at a premium commercial office environment, working with a high-end insurer in the heart of the City.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for an engineer who enjoys taking responsibility for their work, supporting the wider team, and playing a key part in keeping a busy, high-profile site running safely and efficiently.
What you’ll be doing day to dayYou’ll be part of a small on-site engineering team, carrying out a mix of planned and reactive maintenance, with responsibility for ensuring building systems remain compliant, operational and well maintained.
Key activities include:
Carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance across M&E and building services systems
Fault-finding and resolving issues across HVAC plant including AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, pumps and motors
Monitoring and responding to BMS alarms, UPS systems and critical plant
Completing statutory inspections and ensuring compliance tasks are carried out and recorded
Updating CAFM systems accurately with works completed and follow-on actions
Supporting and coordinating subcontractors on site when required, including permits to work
Acting professionally as a day-to-day point of contact on site, working closely with the client and wider Pareto FM team
While this is not a management role, you’ll be trusted to take ownership of tasks, support colleagues when needed, and demonstrate leadership through professionalism, reliability and technical competence.

Working hours, overtime & callout40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Alternating shift pattern:
Early shift: 07:00 – 16:00
Late shift: 09:00 – 18:00
Plenty of paid overtime available, including evenings and weekends
Optional on-call rota, currently 1 in 3
£100 standby payment per on-call period
Minimum 4 hours paid per callout, at overtime rates
Team & supportPart of a close-knit on-site engineering team
Supported by a site-based Technical Manager and wider contract support
Weekly team meetings and regular face-to-face communication

Essential experience & skillsExperience working within a Building Services / Facilities Management environment
Strong background in PPM and reactive maintenance
Confident fault-finding across mechanical and electrical systems
Experience with HVAC plant, BMS monitoring, emergency lighting and compliance checks
Comfortable using CAFM systems and IT tools
Calm under pressure, flexible in approach and professional when dealing with clients
QualificationsTrade background in electrical or mechanical engineering
Trained to City & Guilds or equivalent standard
City & Guilds 2330 (Electrical) Level 2 & 3 or
City & Guilds 6035 Level 3 (Plumbing/Mechanical) or equivalent
Legionella L8 awareness (or willingness to be trained)
