About the Role
About the role: Justteachers is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive primary school seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026 . This is a full-time role supporting a child on a 1:1 basis within a Year 1 classroom , with the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff following a successful period. This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone with a strong background supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who is passionate about helping young learners thrive both academically and socially. Key Responsibilities: Provide dedicated support to a child within a Year 1 classroom setting. Implement strategies and interventions to support the pupil’s individual learning and developmental needs. Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and other professionals to ensure the child reaches their full potential. Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in classroom activities. Support the child’s social, emotional, and communication development. Adapt resources and learning activities to meet individual needs. Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents where appropriate. Pre-requisites: Experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within a school environment. Previous experience supporting children with SEND, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or other additional needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach. The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families. A proactive and flexible attitude. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
