Skills, qualifications and experience Taking on an HGV driving job with Lanes Group requires applicants to have a driving licence that qualifies you to operate an HGV. Whether a class 1 (category C & E) or class 2 (category C) driving licence is needed will depend on the specific placement, but as a general rule, this should be a full driving licence with no more than three penalty points. A completed Certificate of Professional Competence (driver CPC card) and up-to-date digital tachograph card are also expected, and you will need to organise your own transport to and from your place of work. However, candidates should not be put off by a lack of prior drainage industry expertise when applying for HGV driver/operator roles.
