Home / Career / Senior Network Engineer SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER Apply Now SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER Apply Now COUNTRY Costa Rica FORMAT Remote Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Network Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Costa Rica. Our client is a digital marketing company that offers email marketing, social media marketing, event marketing, and online survey tools to help organizations expand their businesses by fostering stronger customer relationships. Engineer participates in on-call rotation hours (are paid at x1 rate) once every 7 weeks (duration of on-call rota is 1 week). The engineer responds to NOC alerts or pages to resolve infrastructure issues. During the on-call week, an automated or manual escalation can occur at any time of day for the engineer. If an issue occurs on a weekend or holiday, an engineer needs to respond. REQUIREMENTS: 5+ years of experience in network engineering in large-scale enterprise and data center environments. Understanding automation with tools like Ansible to provision and configure network infrastructure. Extensive experience with the configuration of security appliances like Palo Alto and Juniper. Understanding of load balancing technologies, DNS, and SaaS infrastructure. Knowledge with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP. Understanding of cloud and on-premises network connectivity. Experience with wireless technologies for corporate offices. Solid working experience with routing and switching technologies: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS (L2 & L3 VPN), RSVP, LDP, switching technologies (VLAN/trunking, STP, RSTP, VSTP). Knowledge of Linux to deploy monitoring tools. At least upper Intermediate level English RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and deploy new infrastructure. Recommend upgrades and solve complex issues on existing infrastructure. Participate in the life cycle projects of network gear. Automate day-to-day tasks of network provisioning. Participate in delivering complex projects and also communicate well with other operations teams. Train and mentor junior engineers. Provide DDOS mitigations and other security initiatives. Work on PCI and compliance tasks. Perform day-to-day tasks of deploying or maintaining the data center or corporate office network infrastructure. Collaborate with other operations teams to troubleshoot and fix complex issues. Generate and update documentation. Work on day-to-day tasks of deploying or maintaining the Data Center or Corporate Office network infrastructure. Be a part of a 24/7 network engineering team and take part in on-call rotations (once a new engineer has been onboarded, they join others in a pool for on-call rotation. So, in a 6-member team, everyone gets a week of on-call once every 6 weeks. During their turn, the engineer responds to NOC alerts or pages to resolve infrastructure issues. During the on-call week, an automated or manual escalation can occur at any time of day for the engineer. If it is from 8 AM to 5 PM Eastern time, other team members can handle it if the on-call engineer is in a different time zone. For example, if the on-call engineer is in the India time zone and a page comes in at 4 PM (past midnight India time), someone on the team can acknowledge the page and let the on-call engineer rest. Additionally, there is a possibility of offering relaxed hours the following day, depending on the level of involvement in the on-call escalation or page the night before. NICE TO HAVE: Experience with Python for scripting. Experience with Fortinet. Vendor Certification in routing and switching, firewalls, wireless (JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, CCIE, etc.).
