About the Role

Private Chef Job – Nr Otley West Yorkshire – £50,000 to £70,000 DOE 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Chef to join a private household near near Otley between Leeds and Harrogate, as a Private Chef. This is a live-out position, so candidates must reside within a commutable distance and be seeking a long-term role. 

Our client is open to considering candidates with prior Private Chef experience or those transitioning from a top-level restaurant background. This full-time role offers the chance to work in a friendly household environment, catering to a family and occasional guests. 

The ideal candidate should enjoy creating interesting, flavorful, creative and well presented dishes using influences from around the world.

You will mainly be catering for a couple, catering for lunch and dinner, daily at 12.00 and 18.00, as well as occasional catering for business lunches and more formal dinner parties.  Small gatherings of 8 people plus children, dinner parties / BBQs for 8-12 and business lunches for no more than 15-20 people.  There is also an outdoor kitchen with teppanyaki grill, large BBQ and wood fire pit.

You should have a focus on health and nutrition and seasonal cooking using local and home grown produce.

As a Private Chef, your key duties will include: 

  • Menu Planning - Designing creative, seasonal, and nutritious menus tailored to the family’s preferences and dietary requirements. 
  • Ingredient Sourcing - Procuring high-quality, local, and seasonal ingredients
  • Meal Preparation - Preparing and presenting meals for the family, including lunch and dinner, as well as catering for occasional guests and events.
  • Kitchen Maintenance - Ensuring the kitchen is kept clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times.
  • Flexibility - Adapting to the family’s schedule, including some weekend work. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following: 

  • Proven experience as a Private Chef or in a high-end restaurant environment. 
  • A passion for creating flavourful, creative, and beautifully presented dishes.
  • Strong knowledge of health-conscious and seasonal cooking. 
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills. 
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle. 
  • Enhanced DBS check (required). 
  • Outstanding references from previous employers. 

Competitive salary ranging from £50,000 to £70,000 gross per annum, depending on experience.   

The client travels extensively and is normally away for 2 weeks per month.  You will not be required to work when they are not in residence but when they are, you will normally be required to work Tuesday to Sunday, taking Mondays off (or Monday and Tuesday off if working a 5 day week) although some flexibility is required.
