Justteachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive SEND school in Swaffham that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teacher to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will work within a specialist setting, delivering high-quality, personalised learning that enables pupils to achieve their academic, social, emotional, and communication goals in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with a range of SEND.
- Develop personalised learning programmes that support pupils’ academic progress, communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment where every pupil can thrive.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, senior leaders, and external professionals to provide consistent and effective support.
- Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to maximise outcomes.
- Promote positive behaviour through clear routines, consistent expectations, and positive behaviour support strategies.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for every learner.
- Contribute to Annual Reviews, EHCP targets, and other SEND documentation where required.
- Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times.
- Uphold the school’s values and commitment to providing an outstanding education for pupils with additional needs.
Pre-requisites:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Previous experience teaching within a SEND or specialist education setting is desirable, although teachers with strong mainstream SEND experience are encouraged to apply.
- A sound understanding of a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, and SEMH.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, flexible, and compassionate approach to teaching.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- A commitment to raising achievement and ensuring every pupil reaches their full potential.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
