About the Role
The Core Cutter will provide assistance to geologists and engineers in preparing/processing drill core for sampling and long-term storage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Use electric powered mason or rock saws to cut drill core in half to prepare for sample shipment
Organize the flow, transportation, and storage of drill core and shipment of samples for analysis
Accurately label and document the storage of core and the sample shipments from site
Practice established safety procedures and contribute to our pre-emptive safety program
Work cooperatively with teammates
EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Exploration camp experience and previous use of power tools preferred
The individual should be focused, self-motivated and well organized
Good communication skills, both orally and written, legible hand writing and capable of basic mathematical calculations
Ability to repetitively lift and carry 35 pounds as required
Ability to operate forklift and work around heavy equipment and helicopters
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Required to remain on-site throughout rotation and work an 11-hour shift
Travel to UKMP worksite may be via small fixed-wing Travel on site and surrounding areas is by four-wheel drive vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, and rotary-winged aircraft
Work takes place on a remote exploration site. Exposure to inclement weather conditions (including snow, rain, wind as well as extremely warm or cold conditions) is common.
