Primary Location: The primary working location is at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, with the potential for some flexible hybrid working.
Salary: £39,550 - £45,966 FTE.
Hours: 30 hours with flexibility

Working for an MSP
MSPs are employers in their own right. Under this employment, you will become part of a small team supporting Laura in carrying out her duties as a regional MSP. You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing an outstanding service for constituents and communities across South Scotland.
This role will support Laura in establishing her team, strategic priorities, communications, staff development and day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have experience of managing and working with hybrid teams, be confident in dealing with a range of stakeholders and constituents, and have strong communication, political and media skills.
Laura’s team works in a mix of in-person and remote, using online tools to collaborate and stay connected. You are expected to have a strong collaborative ethos and be self-motivated and able to work independently. Candidates sympathetic to Laura’s parliamentary aims and values would be desirable.
About the Role
Laura Moodie is the Scottish Green MSP for South Scotland. Her work is rooted in the communities of the region - amplifying local voices, running proactive campaigns, and making the connection between what happens in parliament and what it means in people’s lives.
The Communications and Operations Manager plays a central role in making that work visible and impactful. Working closely with Laura, the postholder will lead the office's communications - developing and growing Laura's public presence, overseeing local media relationships, and ensuring the team's output tells a coherent and compelling story about the difference her work is making. Alongside that, they manage the operational core of the office: supporting and developing a small team and maintaining and evolving the systems that allow everyone to do their best work.
The role will suit someone who understands the complexities of the South Scotland region, has strong political and communications instincts, is motivated by the challenge of developing a growing audience, and has the people skills and organisational judgment to manage a team with care.
