SEMH Behaviour Mentor – Permanent Role Location: Peterborough, UK Salary: £22,000 – £28,000 per year (term time only, DOE) Contract: Permanent | Full-time Start: ASAP / Flexible Closing date for applications: 1st June 2026 Luma Education Recruitment are working with a specialist provision to recruit a resilient and committed SEMH Behaviour Mentor to support pupils aged 10–18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This is a permanent, term-time only position , ideal for someone confident managing behaviour, building strong relationships, and supporting young people who may have experienced significant barriers to mainstream education. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring for pupils with SEMH needs Support pupils in managing behaviour, emotions, and engagement in learning De-escalate challenging situations using appropriate behaviour strategies Work closely with teaching staff to implement individual support plans Act as a positive role model, promoting structure, consistency, and trust Support reintegration into learning and improve attendance and engagement Requirements: Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or in alternative provision Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner Strong relationship-building skills and emotional resilience Background in youth work, mentoring, coaching, or similar desirable TeamTeach, PRICE, or de-escalation training (desirable but not essential) Enhanced DBS (on Update Service) required prior to starting Benefits: Permanent term-time only contract (£22,000 – £28,000 DOE) Stable long-term opportunity within a specialist provision Supportive environment with structured behaviour systems Ongoing CPD and behaviour management training Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on vulnerable young people About Luma Education Recruitment Luma Education Recruitment supports schools and specialist provisions across the UK, with a strong focus on SEND, S...
