Are you a graduate considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, or child development?

A welcoming primary school in Mitcham is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing into teacher training or another education-based career.

You’ll work alongside experienced teachers and SEND professionals, supporting pupils both in the classroom and through targeted interventions, while receiving ongoing training and mentoring.

About the role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
• Work with children on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons
• Help pupils with additional learning, communication and social needs
• Support children’s confidence, behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Gain experience across a range of classroom settings
• Receive ongoing CPD and mentoring throughout your placement
• Build the experience needed for teacher training, educational psychology or other education careers

About you

We’re looking for graduates who are:

• Educated to degree level (any subject considered)
• Passionate about working with children and young people
• Considering a future career in teaching or education
• Patient, enthusiastic and adaptable
• Confident communicators with strong interpersonal skills
• Reliable, proactive and eager to learn
• Previous experience working with children (schools, tutoring, coaching, youth work, childcare or volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
